UPDATE - Issue 38 - Autumn 2009

UPDATE 38: Message from the CEO...

Welcome to the new look Update. We’ve changed the presentation but you should find the same mix of news, patient stories and fundraising updates as before. I do hope you like it. Please let us have your comments, suggestions and feedback.

Whilst noting the new look, I also want to say a very big thank you to retiring editor Richard Killick. Richard has produced every issue of Update so far and I am delighted he is remaining on our editorial board for future issues. You can read more about his story on page 9.

Our fantastic fundraisers have worked harder than ever this summer and this bumper issue includes inspiring stories and pictures from around the country and one from the Sahara desert. From huge personal challenges to family fun, every contribution makes a difference and helps us to continue our work to stop prostate diseases ruining lives.

We also highlight the postcode lottery that exists in the treatment of prostate cancer and the disappointing response from the Prime Minister’s Office to an online petition calling for PSA tests to be available on demand for all men over 50 – despite that supposedly being the current situation.

At Prostate UK we believe men and their families should be provided with all the information they require to make informed testing and treatment choices and we will campaign to make that a reality.
