UPDATE - Issue 40 - Spring 2010

Strong financial performance in tough climate

Prostate UK's financial year ended on 31 March, just as Update was going to print. Although the final, audited, accounts will not be available until the autumn, Prostate UK is delighted to be able to report that income for the year was up on last year, at around £1.4 million. Very many thanks are due to the wonderful supporters who have worked so hard to make sure we can achieve such a great outcome.

This has allowed Prostate UK to spend almost £400,000 on information, awareness, support and training and a fantastic £516,000 has just been awarded in research grants. Following the audit, the full accounts will be published in the expanded Annual report due out later in the year.

Christopher Smith, Prostate UK Treasurer, commented 'Despite the difficulties in the economy, it has been a good year for Prostate UK. We are especially grateful to all the individuals who support us with donations and legacies. This is what makes the difference and allows us to do all we can to stop prostate disease ruining lives. Here's to another successful year!'
