November 2007,
Hike for Hope, Kenya
Congratulations to all 93 sponsored hikers who recently set off to trek the Rift Valley in Kenya, raising funds for Prostate UK and Wellbeing of Women in our second Hike for Hope. Our Chairman, Professor Roger Kirby was amongst those hiking through the rugged terrain. He was joined by patients, doctors and nurses, and others that had been affected by prostate and gynaecological diseases. Participants were hiking at altitudes of 2700 metres for 25 km a day over the Rift Valley’s extinct volcanoes. The toughest challenge of the trek involved a steep climb to the top of an extinct volcano, Mount Longonot.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this extremely challenging and inspirational adventure. Over £280,000 has been raised so far and plans for the third Hike for Hope are already underway…
