2008 - Prostate UK will be seeking proposals for research and training grants in PROSTATE disorders in the Autumn months.

Advertisements for proposals will appear in the The British Medical Journal (BMJ) and the British Journal of Urology (International) (BJUI) during September and October 2008: application forms for grants for research and training will be available from the office. Decisions on awards will be promulgated in March 2009.

Research Grants:

Proposals for research into Prostate disorders, both benign and malignant, are sought in three categories: up to £10,000, between £10,000 and £25,000 and, for more extensive projects, up to £50,000.

Grants are tenable for research to be conducted in the UK and applications are normally sought from researchers in the general field of prostate diseases.

Training Grants:

A limited number of Grants of up to £10,000 are available to UK-based medical professionals for training relevant to the treatment of prostate disease.

Applications for grants will be submitted in a single email. They will contain a completed application form (available upon request by email from geraldine@prostateuk.org), plus an abstract of the proposed research or training, not longer than two A4 pages, as an attachment to the email. In addition, a signed agreement by the Finance Officer of a UK institution to administer the grant must be submitted by fax or by post. Full instructions for submitting the application are contained on the application form.

Prostate UK is committed to funding the best research and we welcome requests for information about the awards procedure.
